Codependency

Codependency
By:Mark Jones
Published on 2021-02-09 by Mark Jones

55% OFF FOR BOOKSTORES NOW!! Do you want to learn how to be no more codependent? Your costumers are looking for this book! There is no single agreed-upon definition for "codependent," so it's frequently misused or misunderstood.

It doesn't refer to simply neediness or attachment issues.

Codependency occurs in relationships where one person gives up power to their partner.

However, that partner isn't willing or able to fulfill the other's emotional needs in return, so the relationship is off-balance.

Very often, the person who is given power is an addict, an alcoholic, or abuser.

They might be mentally ill and not taking steps to get treatment.

However, negative personality traits such as selfishness, immaturity, and irresponsibility can also be present in codependent relationships without addiction or mental illness.

In codependent relationships, the person surrendering power enables destructive behavior for the sake of preserving the relationship.

If someone has a pattern of codependency, they will continuously choose partners who can't fulfill their needs and drain all their emotional energy.

On the other side, a narcissist, addict, abuser, chronically selfish person, or a person who refuses to get help for a mental illness, will seek out partners eager to please and make excuses for them.

This book covers the following topics: - What is codependency? - Are you codependent? - Are you in a codependent relationship? - How to avoid codependent relationships - Ending a codependent relationship - Moving on from a codependent relationship - The symptoms and effects of codependency in your relationship - How to overcome codependency ...And much more It's very hard to find out who is going to suffer from co-dependency because many factors are responsible for this disorder.

However, after doing some research over a few years, doctors have found out that co-dependency often affects a spouse, parents, siblings, friends, or co-workers of people afflicted with alcohol or drug dependency.

Actually co-dependency is a term used to describe partners living in a relationship with a person suffering from alcoholism or other kind of addiction.

Co-dependency is also found among the families where a case of chronic disease or mental illness has been found.

Today, co-dependency has broadened to describe any co-dependent person belonging to any kind of dysfunctional family.

Co-dependent people have a very low self-esteem and they often look for the solution out of their own thinking.

These people find it hard to cope with their own identity and emotions and find it hard to be themselves.

Some try to get rid of their anxious behaviour through some outward means like alcohol or drugs and become addicted to it.

While the others may develop compulsive behaviours like gambling, indiscriminate sexual activity, workaholism etc.

Buy NOW and your costumers will have all they needs.

Counseling Chemically Dependent People with HIV Illness

Counseling Chemically Dependent People with HIV Illness
By:Michael Shernoff
Published on 1991 by Routledge

Counseling Chemically Dependent People with HIV Illness describes frontline clinical treatment of HIV-infected chemically dependent persons.

It provides a realistic view of what the daily work with this population is like.

Specific, in-depth case examples and material give readers a solid understanding of how to work more effectively with chemically dependent clients infected with HIV.

By concentrating on practical instead of theoretical aspects of treatment, this groundbreaking book helps practitioners better understand problems in treatment and shows different ways treatment can be given.

Authors discuss and describe methods they use such as group work, drug and AIDS education, treatment teams, and the harm reduction model.

Chapters address work with specific patient populations with the dual diagnosis of HIV and chemical dependency and describe treatment in a variety of modalities, such as outpatient, residential, or hospital setting.

This timely book also includes helpful background material which introduces the complexities of work with this population through the story of one man's struggle with AIDS and alcohol and drug addiction.

Counseling Chemically Dependent People with HIV Illness also describes medical symptoms and problems of HIV-positive persons which gives non-medical counselors and therapists a preliminary understanding of what their patients may be undergoing physiologically.

Other chapters focus on such topics as work with adolescents, short term group work in hospitals, HIV-infected persons on methadone maintenance, effective AIDS prevention with active drug users, and countertransference in professionals working with chemically dependent HIV clients.

One of few books to address specifics of counseling and therapy with this difficult population, Counseling Chemically Dependent People with HIV Illness is an extremely valuable and helpful guide for substance abuse counselors, certified alcoholism counselors, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers working in the chemical dependency field.

Welcome to the Circle

Welcome to the Circle
By:Jake Orlowitz
Published on 2019-10-09 by

Welcome to the Circle: The Mental Health Book A collection of honest, intelligent, and compassionate writing about mental illness, redemption, loss, and gratitude...

I never expected to wind up in a mental hospital.

I was class treasurer, member of the homecoming court, varsity wrestling champion, head of my academic class, and a distinguished college graduate.

But life threw me an unexpected turn.

After college my mental health suddenly and severely declined.

Welcome to the Circle is my story, and the multitude of lessons I've learned along the way.

More than just memoir, the book is a meditation on the mental health journeys all of us must take to become better humans.

It is full of useful advice about how to navigate mental illness in all its difficulty and unpredictability, either for you, or for the ones you love.

What early readers are saying: "The writing has an intelligence, a vulnerability, and the most perfect use of English vocabulary.

What what all of it has in common is your openness, your honesty, your kindness, and your ability to grab the reader.

The style is so refreshing and unusual, especially in today's world." - Kathy G.

"These pieces reflect your deep compassion and committed empathy.

I read it in one sitting." - Maggie D.

"The way you have written it is just beautiful.

Your writing is full of emotion and one can feel that it's sprouting directly from your heart." - Satdeep G.

In 140 pages, the book cover mental illness and loss--the hard parts--and well as redemption and gratitude--the uplifting parts.

Dive into the essays, sit down with the poems, tick through the lists, or dig into the guides.

Mental illness is not a dead end; it can be a powerful beginning.

In the 7 years since I was hospitalized, I found effective treatment with both therapy and medications and the support of family and friends.

My mission now is to impact each person who has personally experienced or witnessed the struggle of mental illness.

To end the stigma and shame that prevents people from getting the help they need.

To show that recovery is possible, that mental illness can be survived, and that it can be transformed into a dynamic and thriving new chapter of life.

Here are 7 reasons you'll want to support and read Welcome to the Circle: - You are personally struggling and want to gain insight and hope - You love someone who needs help, but you don't know how to help - You want to learn what mental illness really looks and feels like - You need advice getting someone into treatment or onto medication - You believe our society can grow in its compassion towards mental health - You're on your path to recovery and want to stay healthy and keep growing - You crave innovative wrining and want to support independent creators Please purchase the book to support mental health, recovery and hope.

Neuropathology of Drug Addictions and Substance Misuse Volume 1
By:Victor R. Preedy
Published on 2016-03-07 by Academic Press

Neuropathology of Drug Addictions and Substance Misuse, Volume One: Foundations of Understanding, Tobacco, Alcohol, Cannabinoids, Opioids and Emerging Addictions provides the latest research in an area that shows that the neuropathological features of one addiction are often applicable to those of others.

The book also details how a further understanding of these commonalties can provide a platform for the study of specific addictions in greater depth, all in an effort to create new modes of understanding, causation, prevention, and treatment.

The three volumes in this series address new research and challenges, offering comprehensive coverage on the adverse consequences of the most common drugs of abuse, with each volume serving to update the reader’s knowledge on the broader field of addiction, while also deepening our understanding of specific addictive substances.

Volume One addresses tobacco, alcohol, cannabinoids, and opioids, with each section providing data on the general, molecular/cellular, and structural/functional neurological aspects of a given substance, along with a focus on the adverse consequences of addictions.

Provides a modern approach on the pathology of substances of abuse, offering an evidence based ethos for understanding the neurology of addictions Fills an existing gap in the literature by proving a one-stop-shopping synopsis of everything to do with the neuropathology of drugs of addiction and substance misuse Includes a list of abbreviations, abstracts, applications to other addictions and substance misuse, mini-dictionary of terms, summary points, 6+ figures and tables, and full references in each chapter Offers coverage of preclinical, clinical, and population studies, from the cell to whole organs, and the genome to whole body

My autobiography 'Sex, Drugs and Northern Soul' was about the journey of my life from my childhood up until approximately 40 years of age.

My Sequel 'Stigma Worse than Psychosis' highlighted the stigma of having a label that I endured throughout my mental ill health history.

This book is about mental health recovery and having a positive response to some of these issues.

I believe that we are all in some kind of recovery albeit from a debt, a divorce, bereavement etc...

and some people may even say from life itself.

I am not going to compare my experiences of recovery with anyone else's recovery, nor is what I am going to illustrate applicable to everybody.

My main objective is that I will inspire hope to others that may or may not be similarly afflicted with mental health issues and belief for their carers and loved ones.

This is based on personal experience throughout my life up to date.

Winning the War on Drugs

Winning the War on Drugs
By:Richard C. Stevenson
Published on 1994 by Coronet Books Incorporated

There seem to be 'wars on drugs' everywhere but little sign that they are being won.

Richard Stevenson of Liverpool University reviews the alternatives to prohibition which, he says, creates external costs in terms of gangsterism, corruption and law enforcement costs.

He produces a detailed case for legalisation 'as a response to drug problems which offers substantial savings and deals directly and swiftly with criminality'.

It would no longer be an offence to possess drugs, to use them or to trade them, but they would carry a health warning and sale to children would be illegal.

The paper also contains commentaries by authors who strongly disagree with the case for legalisation which would, in their view, significantly increase drug consumption.

Recovery Groups

Recovery Groups
By:Linda Farris Kurtz
Published on 2015 by Oxford University Press, USA

This book focuses on community self-help and support groups specifically in the context of recovery movements in addiction and mental health care.

The idea of groups of recovering people meeting together may seem like a simple one and not one requiring much effort and thought; however, as this book will show, this is not the case.

In Recovery Groups: A Guide to Creating, Leading, and Working with Groups for Addictions and Mental Health Conditions Linda Kurtz breaks down the recovery movement for addictions and mental health care into three sections.

In the first section recovery concepts are broken down into two fields: how they differ and how they come together.

The second section focuses on methods of working with independent self-help groups and leadership in support groups.

Kurtz touches on the study of helping mechanisms, social climate, group teachings, group structure, and how to use each of these to improve group performance.

In the third section of the book, Kurtz examines social and community actions from members involved in Twelve-Step fellowships and consumer survivor organizations.

The final section also details programs that provide employment, housing, and mutual support, explaining how to accomplish these goals without a large expense.

This book will be useful to students, professional mental health and addiction workers, recovery coaches and peer support specialists, and group members and leaders who are interested in this topic.

EBOOK: Recovery in Mental Health Nursing

EBOOK: Recovery in Mental Health Nursing
By:Nick Wrycraft
Published on 2017-09-16 by McGraw-Hill Education (UK)

Recovery is a key concept throughout mental health, but its meaning is elusive and hard to grasp in day to day practice.

This textbook is an accessible and practical guide to recovery in mental health, demystifying the concept and helping students and practitioners to develop a personal awareness of what recovery is and what it means at an individual level.

The book presents recovery as being intimately connected to our values and who we are as people.

The chapters build upon what we understand recovery to be and apply these ideas to various areas of practice, such as communication, being self-aware, reflective practice, clinical supervision and how we engage with service users, families and the multi-disciplinary team.

Explanations are given of the most popularly used recovery concepts and approaches such as the Tidal model, Repper and Perkins’ Psychosocial model, and the WRAP and Path models, and their use in daily practice.

The book features: • Practice-based examples and real-life case scenarios to illustrate how recovery varies from client to client • Exercises to encourage you to reflect and come up with your own personal approach • Consideration of ethical and professional dilemmas in practice • A view of recovery that takes into account political and resourcing issues • Explanation and discussion of key concepts in recovery This is an excellent resource for all students and practitioners in mental health nursing.

"An exciting and essential read for professionals to understand the nature of recovery.

Explicit but comprehensive, this book is for nurses and other professionals in mental health.

The book takes us from the origins of recovery through to practical advice and scenarios that place the service user at the core.

This encapsulates the true meaning of recovery and how we can implement and facilitate these approaches within contemporary healthcare.

The book acknowledges politics and how the political arena can influence and shape services" May Baker, Senior Lecturer in Mental Health, Liverpool John Moores University, UK
